Now Offering Free Meals FOR ALL STUDENTS

Due to waivers from the USDA and the CSDE, Watertown Schools will be able to provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to students. Free meals are available for all children 18 and under, and for those students 18-21 with Special Needs. Each student is allowed one breakfast and one lunch at no charge per day. Students who take second meals will be charged the usual meal price. This program will continue throughout the 2021-2022 School year. Menus are available under Food Service Documents on the left side of this page.

It remains critical that you complete and submit your free and reduced-price meal application in order to determine eligibility for other programs, like the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), discounted technology and WiFi programs, and more. This application was sent home with your child during the first week of school and only 1 application needs to be filled out per family.

The Watertown Public Schools Food Service Department is a participant in the Seamless Summer Option of the National School Lunch Program. Meals are prepared to meet the strict state and federal guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the State Department of Education. Meals meet the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and 1/3 of the recommended dietary allowances for school-aged children. Our goal is to provide nutritious, delicious and affordable meals to our students and staff supporting the educational process. Studies have shown that well fed students have fewer absences and perform better academically. 
The Watertown Public Schools Food Service Department certifies to comply with the Connecticut Nutrition Standards which focus on limiting fat, saturated fat, trans fat, sodium and added sugars. The nutrition standards also moderate portion sizes and promote increased intake of nutrient-dense foods such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, low-fat and nonfat dairy products, lean meats and legumes. The Watertown Public Schools Food Service Department provides a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables available daily to students.
